Marianna Lines regarded the birdmen on the Papil Stone (Pictish, 8th or 9th century AD) from St Laurence's Church, Papil, West Burra, in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, as typical Shetland guisers, dressed up in other-worldly costume. This artwork is a modern carving by Highland sculptor Barry Grove with natural dye art by Marianna Lines.
